Description

Higher Education (HE) mental health services are facing growing demand and increasingly complex needs. The number of students experiencing mental health difficulties has reached four in five, whilst 91 per cent of students say they are concerned about the cost-of-living crisis.

It is vital that HE providers are equipped to deal with these challenges. Two thirds of students claimed they prioritised mental health provision when choosing university.

The Office for Students encourages HE providers to adopt a whole-institution approach, implement evidence-based policies, put co-creation with students at the heart of intervention planning and collaborate with other organisations.

With these recommendations in mind and incorporating up-to-date research, this one day in-person conference will provide you with the knowledge and skills to improve mental health provision at your HE organisation.

Learning objectives include:
• An enriched understanding of the core risk factors of student mental health and how services can respond to increasingly complex and numerous demands
• Analytical know-how relating to the intersectional contours of student mental health and how to tailor provision for high-risk groups
• A developed skillset to effectively utilise data analytics to instruct provision
• A renewed approach for working with internal and external stakeholders, such as the NHS, to deliver joined-up care and a whole university approach
• How to employ student co-production effectively
• Approaches for managing service demand
• Ability to network with other professionals within the sector and learn from your peers.
