With too much focus on raw data and a lack of resource and motivation, there are many barriers to ensuring effective support for more able pupils.

Talent can be all too easily wasted if more able pupils are left unchallenged. Making sure a culture of ‘pitching to the top’, balancing the curriculum for the benefit of all pupils, and effectively providing greater depth in lessons is crucial.
