The demands of the curriculum are challenging even our most articulate children. Mathematical reasoning and problem-solving and all aspects of the English curriculum require a significant degree of linguistic ability. Evidence shows that vocabulary acquisition is one of the most significant factors in determining a child’s future academic success (Biemiller and Boote 2006). It is therefore imperative that language development takes its rightful place at the heart of every subject in the curriculum.

This one-day teaching and learning conference will provide ways to enhance children's vocabulary, showing ways to create inquisitive learners who value the need to expand their vocabulary. With keynote speakers, Rachel Clarke, the director of Primary English and Debbie Morgan, Director for Primary Mathematics NCETM Delegates will be able to draw upon the latest research by engaging in a range of workshops gaining practical ideas for developing language in the classroom and beyond.
