Description

Participants will hear guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and Department for Eduation on how to continue to ensure compliance, gain insights from a number of best practice case studies from school data staff and engage in interactive workshops and panel sessions with legal experts to discuss the challenges posed by the GDPR framework.

  • Understanding how a school can establish an effective reporting structure; Ensuring all data breaches are reported to the DPO immediately to facilitate an effective and adequate response
  • Exploring what ‘explicit consent’ means and how ‘personal data’ is defined by the GDPR
  • Analysing the GDPR challenges facing schools and sharing guidance on how these can be navigated

  • Analysing the impact of non-compliance on schools, with schools still potentially facing fines of either up to 4% of their turnover or £20 million
  • Exploring how the implementation of GDPR has affected the DfE process of collecting and shearing data
