Description

With mental health problems on the rise and anxiety in young people at the highest level to date, it’s vital to have the skills and knowledge needed to offer meaningful support to all students. 'Virtually half of secondary staff (49%) have said that pressures had led to pupils feeling suicidal, with 81 percent saying the same pressures are leading students to self-harm' (TES, April 2018).

A topic challenging to schools in the independent sector is supporting their students so that they are happy and confident in themselves. Changes to exams, family expectations and a virtual pressure to 'fit-in', has led to a steady rise in mental health problems. As a result, resources are limited and staff too are struggling to cope. Attendees will be given the chance to help their students thrive with outside-the-box solutions to improve pupils' wellbeing.

This one day event will provide attendees with the opportunity to network with leading experts and practitioners in the independent sector and to take away proven strategies and resources to support mental health challenges.

Delegates may expect in-depth keynotes with leading experts and a choice of workshops including:
• creative solutions that support growing mental health needs
• building a parental engagement policy in which wellbeing is central
• capacity building ideas to relieve student pressures and strengthen resilience
• engaging staff wellbeing ideas that ensure their needs are met.
