Description

This conference will provide an outstanding opportunity to hear from leaders in the field and to exchange ideas, research and practical approaches to promote good SEMH and wellbeing in school.

The theme of this year’s conference is around using nature to support mental health and will feature many exciting elements, including workshops and presentations from education and mental health professionals from all over the country.

Keynote speakers include:
• Lucy Jones, author of Losing Eden: Why Our Minds Need the Wild.
• Adrian Clarke, Principal Education Adviser (Support) Education and Skills (CYPS – NYCC).

Delegates will be able to attend three of these workshops in rotation on a range of topics:
1. North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership: Promoting the work of the NYSCP, providing information on our resources, training and information that is available to professionals, families and children and young people
2. North Yorkshire Healthy Schools Programme: Using the North Yorkshire Healthy Schools award framework with a specific focus on the benefits of the outdoors to enhance pupil wellbeing
3. North Yorkshire County Council Educational Psychology: Emotion Coaching workshop with an emphasis on Physical activities to calm the physiology
4. North Yorkshire Sport: TBC
5. Wellbeing In Mind: How Occupational Therapists working Mental Health in Schools Teams can support pupil's mental wellbeing
6. Compass Phoenix: Five Ways to Wellbeing can help young people’s emotional wellbeing
7. LEAF Education: The benefits of outdoor learning and the opportunities available in the farmed environment/the work of LEAF education
8. Grow To School: The benefits of outdoor learning for children’s wellbeing drawing on our experience and our impact data and feedback
9. North Yorkshire SEMH: Neurology and the use of physical activity to support emotional regulation.
