Description

With the publication of the Schools White Paper on March 28th, 2022, the Department for Education has laid out its plans to ensure every child is able reach their maximum potential academically. Centred on the four key pillars of teacher development, improving curriculum standards, parental engagement, and uniformity of school hours the Government has established a clear strategy aimed at delivering world-class education in England. Central to the White Paper was academisation, specifically the ambition that by 2030 all children will be taught in a school that is either in the process of joining or is already part of a strong multi-academy trust. Over the next three years £86 million will be made available to the sector to grow and strengthen multi-academy trusts, with a particular focus on Education Investment Areas.

This online training course will provide specific support for Local Authorities and Maintained Schools looking to establish a trust, with guidance on how to prepare for growth and encourage durable and positive relationships throughout the process. Many MAT expansions and creations fail due to insufficient leadership capacity, stretching of central services, communication difficulties and other issues. This course will enable sustainable and responsible growth through planning and foresight, aligning with the Department for Education’s vision for growth in the sector and capitalising on the financial support made available through the next phase of the Trust Capacity Fund and guidance outlined in the Schools White Paper (March 2022).

Learning objectives include:
• Gain an enhanced understanding of the business-critical role corporate governance plays in successfully running and growing a multi-academy trust
• Receive guidance on how to perform due diligence to the highest standard, placing capacity and competence, readiness to acquire, and self-audit at the centre
• Consider how to better operate transparently when acquiring schools, ensuring trust is maintained throughout the process, empowering acquired schools and staff
• Create a strategy for future growth within the MAT, embedding professional development to ensure succession and continued growth.
