This online course explores the distinctive nature of adaptive teaching when taking into account a learner’s proficiency in English. It provides guidance on how you can adapt your curriculum teaching in a responsive way to meet the language development needs of your pupils who use English as an Additional Language (EAL).
During this course delegates will:
• Study a range of easy-to-use strategies that you can implement immediately into your teaching to facilitate better learning and integration within mainstream lessons.
• Do two hours of flexible online study over a four to five-week period.
• Work at a manageable pace with plenty of time to process course content and consider relevance to your context.
• Take part in highly interactive and collaborative activities, with opportunities to work with other course participants, course tutors and course material.
• Join a live one-hour webinar with opportunities to ask questions and share best practice in real time.
• Complete an assignment based on the content of the course, which will receive detailed feedback to guide you in implementing your learning in school.
• A certificate will be awarded for successful completion of the course.
Course Outline:
Module One: Pre-webinar online tasks completed at your own pace over a one-week period.
Time commitment: approximately 60 minutes.
Module Two: Live interactive webinar with the course tutors:
• Primary: Wednesday 27 September 16:00-17:00
• Secondary: Thursday 28 September 16:00-17:00
Time commitment: 60 minutes.
Module Three: Post-webinar online tasks: completed at your own pace over a one to two-week period.
Tutor feedback: you will receive feedback on your assignment within two weeks of submission.
Time commitment: approximately 60 minutes.
