Description

Since the removal of Covid restrictions in the UK the number of child protection plans, referrals and enquiries have increased, reaching record figures in the year 2021-2022. According to the NSPCC, young children are increasingly at risk of significant harm, including sexual abuse, criminal exploitation and online grooming. The establishment of the Child Safeguarding Review Panel in 2017, and more recent updates to the Government’s child safeguarding guidance have worked to further the protection of vulnerable children.

While there is a huge level of partnership working across the nation, between police, local authorities, schools, healthcare services and charities, there is still more to be done to improve the effectiveness of safeguarding services in the UK. It is vital for these sectors to come together and share best practice in delivering multi-agency, local and personalised solutions to better improve outcomes for children.

• The NSPCC found in 2023 that 77% of local authorities offer no specialist support to children who have experienced sexual abuse
• According to Government statistics, there were over 334 children in need per 10,000 children in 2022, the highest rate since 2018
• The Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse reported that police forces in England Wales recorded 103,055 child sexual abuse offences from 2021-22 – the highest ever level, and a 15% rise from the previous year.

This one day online event will allow delegates to hear the latest updates and guidance on national child safeguarding strategies from leading experts across the public sector.
