This webinar will focus on the issues created by successive policymakers when aiming to improve skills policy and how this has not succeeded in achieving its aim.

Utilising the knowledge and skills of an experienced FE college leader, the webinar will aim to offer alternative approaches to skills policy and development.

The webinar builds on a recent study by the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) entitled Running to stand still and earlier work on the same subject by City and Guilds and FETL.

Participants will:
• learn about research into skills policy and its outcomes
• understand why previous work in this field has not been successful
• take away ideas for improving the impact of skills policy on the economy.
