Description

With the revelations of the Everyone’s Invited initiative sparking an Ofsted review of sexual abuse in schools and colleges in 2021, which later provided recommendations for school and college leaders as well as multi-agency partners and the government, now is the time to ensure your school is taking a holistic approach and demonstrating a commitment to preventing and responding to harmful sexual behaviours. This one day online event will provide delegates with knowledge and skills to tackle sexual harassment in their school.

Schools must be a key player in a culture change, with the ability and responsibility to:
• Educate children and young people on sexual behaviour
• Identify and respond to concerns among those conducting and experiencing harmful behaviour
• Empower young people to understand consent, how to report incidents of abuse and harassment, and ultimately end a culture of sexual harassment being tolerated.

Learning objectives for this action day:
• Review your understanding and adherence to the sexual violence and sexual harassment elements of the DfE’s KCSIE guidance
• Learn prevention and early intervention models for behaviours that suggest harmful sexual behaviours
• Access age-appropriate guidance for teaching key topics including consent, safe relationships, and rights and responsibilities relating to sexual behaviour
• Discover how to take a whole school approach to tackling abuse including through teacher training and CPD, engaging with parents and families, and implementing a dedicated policy
• Explore how to respond to incidents in a sensitive and timely way, delivering follow up support for victims and perpetrators
• Examine how to tackle sexist behaviour as part of the curriculum and in the classroom to further address sexual harassment and abuse.
