Description

In 2021/2022, there were an estimated 914,000 cases of work-related stress, depression, or anxiety, according to the Health and Safety Executive. All employers have a legal obligation to prevent work-related stress and promote good mental health in the workplace. With mental ill health costing UK employers approximately £56 billion each year (MHFA England 2022), it has become increasingly clear that there is a robust business case, as well as a moral one, for improving the mental health of employees at work.

In light of this, many organisations are implementing support measures to better their employees’ wellbeing and create a positive workplace culture. Through sharing and engaging with best practice in improving workplace wellbeing, organisations can improve the mental health of their staff and help all employees to fulfil their potential.

• 50% of employees have experienced at least one characteristic of burn out due to greater job demands and expectations, lack of social interaction and lack of boundaries between work and home life
• Almost half of workers (46%) say they’ve worked in recent months despite not feeling physically or mentally well enough to perform their duties
• Mental ill health costs UK employers approximately £56 billion each year
• One third of employees expect or would like more support for their mental health and wellbeing from their employers.
