Description

Trauma informed practice is a strength-based, person-centred approach being widely adopted across the public sector. Trauma informed practice recognises the widespread impact of trauma on individuals, realises the way in which it can affect and inform behaviour, and responds to this knowledge by developing a trauma informed approach to service delivery and staff management.

During this one day online event delegates will be offered a valuable opportunity to explore trauma and participate in thought provoking sessions to gain the necessary understanding, tools and strategies to improve organisational trauma awareness which enhances engagement and reduces the chance of retraumatisation. It will also consider the impact of working with people who have experienced trauma and how to recognise and reduce vicarious trauma.

Learning Outcomes:
• Explore what is meant by trauma
• Understand the impact of complex trauma on development and behaviour
• Learn the best practice key principles for developing a trauma informed approach
• Understand the importance of developing Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE)
• Consider the next steps for ensuring your organisation’s culture, practice, and processes are consistently trauma informed.
