This one day conference will examine key priorities for:
• improving the recruitment and retention of teachers
• the provision and quality of professional development opportunities
• maintaining high standards in teaching quality and provider accountability.

It will be a timely opportunity to consider the recent announcement of the ‘levelling up premium’, the introduction of the Early Career Framework, and the new suite of national professional qualifications (NPQs). Those attending will look at the likely effectiveness of these measures in promoting the profession and encouraging newly qualified and experienced staff to stay in teaching.

The conference will also consider priorities for Ofsted, with full inspections now taking place following the full return to in-person teaching, the options for longer inspections and how the regulator is implementing the measures set out in the Education Staff Wellbeing Charter.

Sessions in the agenda look at priorities for policy and sector practice in:
• staff wellbeing and mental health - tackling fatigue and burnout, managing workloads, developing supportive organisational cultures, and options for flexible working
• recruitment and retention - pay, progression, diversity, supporting early career teachers, professional autonomy, talent for schools in need of improvement, and developing subject specialists
• professional development - quality and availability, the new NPQs, improving the impact of CPD, designing whole school strategies, and learning from other professions
• quality and accountability - the new inspection framework, teacher wellbeing, assessing schools over longer periods, and the effectiveness of catch-up schemes and teacher development within schools.

This is a full-scale conference taking place online and will include:
• full, four-hour programme including comfort breaks - delegates will also get a full recording and transcript to refer back to
• information-rich discussion involving key policymakers and stakeholders
• conference materials provided in advance, including speaker biographies
• speakers presenting via webcam, accompanied by slides if they wish, using the Cisco WebEx professional online conference platform

• a recording of the addresses, all slides cleared by speakers, and further materials, is made available to all delegates afterwards as a permanent record of the proceedings
