Event Details
Description
Increasing evidence links adverse childhood experiences and childhood trauma to dramatically impaired life courses and chances beyond school. However, schools and colleges are at the front line in trying to support these young people and the impact of these adverse experiences are felt just as keenly in school as in the rest of their lives.
This webinar aims to share useful data as well as some principles and practice that can help schools and colleges support their young people both academically and pastorally.
This webinar will cover:
• Types of childhood trauma and adverse experiences
• Research data on the impact of childhood trauma/adverse experiences
• Approaches to supporting young people affected
• Where schools can go for support.
Participants will:
• better understand some of the challenges faced by some young people in your school
• be equipped with some ideas for how they might shape policy and practice in their school to better support young people
• have knowledge of the support available to schools.
There will also be the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas with other attendees.
