HEPI and Advance HE will be hosting a webinar to discuss key points raised through the findings from the 2024 HEPI / Advance HE Student Academic Experience Survey.
The survey suggests more than half of full-time undergraduate students are now in paid employment during term-time – prompting some higher education institutions to reorganise timetables and to help their students find work.
Other higher education routes, such as degree apprenticeships and sandwich years, have employment as part of the course while, at some universities, a high proportion of courses are co-designed with employers and / or professional bodies. Meanwhile, the Lifelong Learning Entitlement envisages more working people upskilling and reskilling throughout their working lives.
But is the landscape changing mainly for positive reasons, such as changing demand from employers and students, or for more negative ones, like the cost-of-living crisis? What does it all mean for how we deliver higher education and for the quality of the student experience? What are the ramifications for institutional leaders and policymakers?
HEPI and Advance HE will bring together a panel of expert speakers to discuss all these issues, including:

• Professor Stephen Decent, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Glasgow Caledonian University
• Ashley Wheaton, Vice-Chancellor at the University College of Estate Management (UCEM).
