Description

Following the publication of the Skills for Jobs White Paper, which outlined the government’s intention to improve the provision of technical education it was announced in the 2021 Spending Review that a further £1.6bn had been budgeted to continue T Levels national rollout. With 24 courses planned to be available from 2023, and T Levels becoming available to all 16-19 education providers by 2024, it is evident that the rollout is rapidly accelerating. However, as with any new provision there have been obstacles during rollout, including some providers being unable to meet the demand for placements in areas such as health. Roughly 260,000 people now take BTECs, according to industry estimates, however, T-levels were taken by only 1,300 pupils in 2020/1, their second year of implementation. As such, leaders in further education are concerned that T Levels may present a skills gap and increase inequality by reducing the range of accessible post-16 options.

This online event will bring together current and future providers of T Levels to discuss what the future holds for technical education. Key speakers including the NCFE, Institute for Apprenticeships, and Technical Education and Education and Training Foundation will be joined by the pioneering further education institutions at the heart of technical education provision. Delegates will have access to key discussions centred on the T Level roll out to date, and what the future of T Levels will be.

Delegates will explore the best way to deliver T Levels across further education, drawing from best practice case studies, as well as receive guidance on how to best to support students, develop strong relationships with placement providers and ensure strong student engagement.
