The role of the SENDCo is complex, interweaving across and throughout all aspects of school teaching, support and leadership. Taking on the role of SENDCo can feel both exciting, yet overwhelming, due to the demands of the role and expectations from colleagues.

For all learners to feel included, and have the opportunity to reach their full potential, it is important that the responsibility for SEND provision is shared, with every leader a leader of SEND and every teacher a teacher of SEND.

In this webinar, delegates will be given an overview of what the SENDCo role entails and identify useful resources that can support SENDCos in their schools and settings. The host will also share personal experiences in leading SEND provision in mainstream primary and secondary schools.

Participants will:
• gain an understanding of the role of the SENDCo, as outlined in the Code of Practice
• identify the strategic and operational responsibilities of the SENDCo, with first-hand examples of ways to develop strategic capacity in their roles
• identify resources to support the development of effective SEND provision in their school or setting.

There will also be the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas with other attendees.
