Description

This online event will provide delegates with the knowledge and skills to embed trauma-informed practice across the public sector.

Challenges discussed on the day will include:
• The increasing need for trauma-informed service delivery across the public sector, particularly in a post-covid landscape
• The importance of all staff, from frontline practitioners to senior leaders, having a solid understanding of trauma and what this means for their work
• The need to deliver quality trauma-informed services and prevent additional problems arising from poor engagement
• The different approaches needed to embed trauma-informed practice to ensure staff are better cared for from an organisational perspective, and those needed for service user-facing work.

Solutions to the above will be discussed and learning objectives will include:
• Understand what the government’s new definition of trauma-informed practice means for you and your role
• Gain strategies for embedding research-based trauma-informed practice across a range of key sectors including education, health and social care, criminal justice, and housing
• Learn the key principles of being trauma-informed and what these mean in practice for the way you work with trauma-experienced people
• Explore methods for embedding trauma-awareness across the public sector workforce, and ensuring staff are equipped to maintain good mental health and wellbeing
• Discuss the nuances of creating a safe environment, and having non-threatening conversations, when working with trauma-experienced people
• Examine how to reframe behaviours in the context of trauma, to enhance service delivery
• Engage with peers and practitioners working in different areas of the public sector across the country, learn from each other and make connections to continue the conversation and your improvement journeys.
