Description

Delegates at this seminar will have the opportunity to discuss the practicalities of achieving the Government ambition of developing evidence-informed teaching in England.

It follows recent developments, including:

• DfE initiatives - appointment of a Champion for evidence-based practice in opportunity areas and emphasis on equipping teachers to use latest research and evidence in their teaching practices
• Expansion of research schools - programme aiming to build affiliations between large numbers of schools to scale up the use of evidence
• Chartered College of Teaching - launched to support evidence-informed practice in the profession.

Delegates will discuss how teacher engagement with data and research could be better facilitated - including the conversion of research into practical tools for use in the classroom and implementing emerging trends in evidence-based practice. They will also evaluate the effectiveness of research schools in using data and evidence to drive school improvement within local school networks - and measures that can be taken to maximise impact.

Further sessions focus on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in England, considering latest thinking on steps that can be taken to improve quality of provision and widen accessibility - as well as priorities for the new Chartered College of Teaching, including how it can best coordinate and engage with the wider profession. Delegates will also discuss what is needed to provide teachers with the training and tools to effectively deliver teacher-led assessment.
