Event Details
Description
This one day seminar is bringing together stakeholders and key policymakers to discuss priorities for improving children and young people’s mental health provision.
The seminar follows the release of proposals in the Government’s Green Paper on children’s mental health, including the introduction of specialist mental health leads in schools and colleges, the creation of new community-based mental health support teams and the piloting of 4-week waiting times for services.
Delegates will discuss the potential challenges for implementing these key proposals including funding concerns and the impact on teaching resources. Strategies to improve provision in the immediate term, as well as developing a collaborative approach between schools, CAMHS and the voluntary sector will also be considered.
Further sessions examine the final findings of the Care Quality Commission’s review of children and young people’s mental health services, due to be published in March, which will build on its first report that highlighted concerns around safety, skills, and the complexity and fragmentation of the system.
