Rethinking School Leadership
Countdown to Start Date
Event Details
Description
Led by Ross Morrison McGill and Stephen Tierney, this one day workshop will explore what makes great leaders and help delegates identify their own strengths and areas for development.
If culture really does trump strategy, it’s time to get focused on building a purposeful, enriching and rewarding culture for teachers.
Attendees will be given the ideas and confidence to deliver the training to their own colleagues on both leadership and what quality learning looks like.
Those attending should bring their own notepad and/or laptop and be prepared to share case studies and participate with others in the group.
The day will focus around three areas:
• What makes a great leader
• Putting the 'leading' into practical leadership
• Beyond accountability - individual and whole-school responsibility.
Attendees on the day will:
• develop a good understanding of the role of a leader at middle and senior level
• learn a variety of techniques to enhance day-to-day effectiveness as a school leader
• understand the types of leadership to maximise impact
• have a broader perspective of the impact of your leadership
• be able to recognise and evaluate alternative approaches to challenging leadership issues.
