Four YMCA childcare settings in Hampshire have been saved from closure after the charity voiced fears last month that some settings would be forced to close “as they were simply no longer viable”.

The youth charity had warned that a below-inflation rise in the early years funding formula for the next financial year would compound the crisis facing providers and force some to close settings.

However, specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has announced that YMCA Nursery Warren Park, YMCA Pre-School Dunsbury Way and YMCA Nursery Sharps Copse, all in Havant in Hampshire, have been purchased by Girls & Boys Nurseries. YMCA Nursery Townhill Early Years in Southampton was purchased by a local school provider and all four settings were sold for undisclosed prices.
