All children over the age of nine months will be eligible for free childcare under plans unveiled today as part of the Spring Budget.
The chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, announced that 30 hours free childcare will be available each week to parents of one- and two-year olds in households where both parents are working.
This will apply within term-time so amount to 38 weeks in a year.
Hunt said his plans are about 'breaking down barriers that stop people working'.
