A survey by global children’s charity Theirworld reveals UK parents face a tougher struggle to afford nursery and childminder fees compared to some other countries.
One in four UK parents have had to quit their job or their studies to avoid soaring childcare costs, a global poll has found.
The survey, conducted for global children’s charity Theirworld, polled more than 7,000 parents and carers with children under school age across the UK, US, the Netherlands, India, Brazil, Turkey, and Nigeria.
The poll found that just under a quarter (23 per cent) of parents in the UK said they had either quit a job or dropped out of their studies to avoid childcare costs - a higher proportion than in Brazil (17 per cent), Turkey (16 per cent) and Nigeria (13 per cent).
