The Department for Education (DfE) has launched a major consultation on a package of policy changes to the the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.
The eight-week online consultation is on proposals to ‘provide more flexibility and remove burdens within the statutory framework for EYFS for providers, while maintaining quality and safety standards’, the DfE said.
It said the proposed changes to the EYFS framework also aim to ‘make it easier for practitioners to join the workforce and progress their careers’.
The Government intends to introduce a group and school-based provider EYFS, which would sit alongside a childminder-specific version of the EYFS framework.
