All UK regions are experiencing a childcare recruitment crisis, according to research from the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
Analysis of data from Coram Family and Childcare by the TUC finds that 95 per cent of English councils who responded to a survey told Coram that childcare providers in their area were having difficulty recruiting staff “with the right skills and experience to do the job”.
Eight in 10 local authorities described the recruitment of early years staff as “very difficult”.
Recruitment is most difficult in the East of England, the West Midlands and the North East, analysis suggests, after all councils in these areas, which took part in the research, said childcare providers found it “very difficult” to recruit sufficiently.
