The first intergenerational care village in the North West has opened in Chester, promoting older people and younger children learning and living together through a day nursery.

Not-for-profit dementia care operator Belong specialises in creating dementia-friendly developments which integrate care support into the community, with the £21m Chester branch being the eighth and most recent to open.

National charity Ready Generations operate the day nursery on-site at Belong Chester, which offers care for people of all ages. Nursery children socialise with residents at the development, sharing mealtimes, stories, arts and crafts and exercise.

Intergenerational care has benefits for younger and older people, as CYP Now has previously reported.
