Early years providers are being reminded that they will need to apply for the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) in addition to claiming the new funding rate for disadvantaged two-year-olds.

It comes as the Department for Education (DfE) confirmed the new funding rates for the delivery of the expanded entitlement, effective from April when the first phase of the policy comes in and when the EYPP will be expanded to two-year-olds in receipt of funding.

The EYPP gives providers additional funding to support disadvantaged children accessing an entitlement place.

While the process for claiming EYPP will continue as it is now, currently providers can only claim the funding for three and four-year-olds taking up the funded hours.
