The new chief inspector of Ofsted has paused school inspections for mental health training for inspectors, but early years inspections will continue.
Routine Ofsted inspections in schools have been paused by Ofsted’s new chief inspector Sir Martyn Oliver until later in January, so that all inspectors can receive mental health training in the first week of term.
The move is part of Sir Martyn’s pledge to do more to support the mental wellbeing of staff and provide more training for inspectors.
However, Ofsted inspections in early years settings will continue, prompting criticism from the sector.
