New Ofsted boss Sir Martyn Oliver has unveiled plans for a listening exercise to gather views about the inspectorate's work in the wake of the recent inquest into the death of headteacher Ruth Perry.
The launch of the "Big Listen", set to begin in the next few months, coincides with Sir Martyn beginning his five-year stint as Ofsted chief inspector.
The Big Listen will allow parents and professionals across all the sector's Ofsted regulates to directly feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of the inspectorate's current approach to inspections and regulation.
Sir Martyn also announced that routine school inspections will be paused until a package of training on mental health awareness has been delivered to inspectors.
