The Mayor of London has announced plans for a £4m extension of project to provide free meals to struggling families during school holidays as part of his 2024/25 budget.

The programme, run in partnership with the Mayor’s Fund for London and The Felix Project, is likely to be extended to help families amid the cost-of-living crisis as new research warns that families are increasingly struggling to pay for essentials.

The scheme has delivered more than 10.1m free meals since April last year to hundreds of thousands of families, with more set to benefit from the scheme’s extension.

Low-income families and young people will be supported through ready-made and cook-at-home meals, alongside school holiday activities run by more than 340 community partners and 90 Kitchen Social hubs across the capital.
