The number of job adverts for early years education and childcare practitioners listed in January this year was 146 per cent higher than pre-pandemic levels, new research has shown.
The sharp rise in job vacancies, highlighted by the latest Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) and Lightcast Labour Market Tracker, comes as the government plans to roll out extra hours of funded childcare for children as young as nine months old from April.
The figures also highlight that the number of job postings for early years education and childcare practitioners in January were 5.5 per cent higher than levels seen in a year earlier.
The number of active job postings for early education and childcare assistants in January was also up 30.2 per cent on pre-pandemic levels.
