It's well-known that children in the UK are required to get a full-time education by law. This means either going to school or being home-schooled.

That applies until the last Friday in June in the school year during which they turn 16. Parents of children who are missing their education will be contacted by the authorities and could eventually be prosecuted if they ignore warnings, with fines of up to £2,500.
