The head teacher of a Glasgow primary school has called for tighter rules on social media after her pupils were targeted by “horrific” racial abuse following a visit from Nicola Sturgeon.

Clare Harker, principal of St Albert’s Primary in the city’s southside, said her staff and pupils had been victims of hate crimes and asked police to investigate hundreds of “aggressive” right-wing posts. Teachers were being offered psychological support after the barrage.
