Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has been called on to launch a recruitment drive to encourage more young men to work in the early years sector.
The recommendation has been made by the London Assembly's health committee. It wants to see a capital wide campaign to encourage more people, in particular young men, to work in nurseries and other early years settings.
It says the move is needed after identifying skills gaps in early years settings in the capital as part of its investigation into the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on early years services and children’s early development.
