As I prepare to hand over ETF’s leadership reins I have been reflecting on the key highlights and achievements over a period of more than five years working for an organisation dedicated to supporting all those within the diverse and vibrant FE and training sector.
Firmly at the top of the list is a sense of pride that since ETF was first established almost ten years ago, our charitable purpose has been relentlessly focused on learners. It was no surprise to me that according to our latest landmark survey, 82% of the sector’s workforce told us that the most rewarding aspect of their job is inspiring students, changing lives and making a difference.
I have been fortunate to have met so many inspiring educators from across the sector. Whether it has been witnessing the transformative learning experiences that are taking place in FE colleges, independent learning providers, or adult and community centres across the country, or hearing from learners themselves about the impact that teachers and trainers have had on their lives, every example has demonstrated the incredible dedication, commitment and professionalism of the FE and training workforce.
I am so proud of the ETF’s work to support the teachers, trainers, leaders and governors that make the Further Education and Training system what it is today. I wanted to share some personal highlights from our work over the past five years that demonstrates our focus on improving quality and supporting professionalism across the sector.
