An Oxford college is preparing to appoint the first female dean in its 500-year history.
Christ Church said that the King had approved the appointment of the Rev Canon Professor Sarah Foot, regius professor of ecclesiastical history at Oxford University.
She is also a priest serving as a residentiary canon at Christ Church, which comprises both the cathedral of the diocese of Oxford and a constituent college of the University of Oxford.
Christ Church was criticised by the Charity Commission over its dealings with Dr Martyn Percy, who left in April after a four-year dispute.
