Adverts which targeted Scottish students have been banned for implying they could submit bought essays as their own work without repercussions.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has taken action against four companies which offer to write academic assignments over concerns they could encourage cheating.

The website for one of the firms, called Essay Mills, had a page titled “Scotland’s Assignment Help Led by Former Professors”.

The London-based service promised to produce “plagiarism free reports” and the ad stated: “Hire our online assignment creator, and achieve your dream grades that will be the envy your peers.”

Another company called British Dissertation Help boasted it could provide essays for students who were too lazy to do the work themselves.
