University degrees in Scotland would be cut to three years as standard as part of a Conservative plan to lift the cap on Scottish students.
It will be the main announcement at the Tory conference, which starts tomorrow in Glasgow, as the party tries to set out a key set of policies beyond opposing independence which its leadership hopes will attract voters.
Central will be the pledge on higher education and the reform of degrees in an effort to improve funding for institutions and reduce student debt.
