Advance HE welcomes the Research concordats and agreements review report - Phase 2 published today by Universities UK, UK Research and Innovation, and the Wellcome Trust.

Concordats and agreements, which include Athena Swan and the Race Equality Charter, are a significant part of the landscape of frameworks and practices that contribute to research cultures and environments in which UK research takes place.

The second phase of the Concordats and Agreements Review (CAR) brought initiative owners and the research and innovation (R&I) community together to look for alignments to ‘increase influence, capacity, and efficiency across the landscape’.

Dr Ruth Gilligan, Advance HE Assistant Director – Equality Charters, said, “We welcome the report findings. Over the past two years, we have worked with the sector and with our respective Athena Swan and Race Equality Charter governance committees to streamline processes, embrace flexibility and reduce the administrative commitments to the charters while promoting inclusive cultures.
