Thousands of students at the University of Cambridge may be unable to graduate because UCEA is refusing to restart negotiations.
Responding to the announcement from the University of Cambridge, UCU general secretary Jo Grady said:
'It is an outrage that thousands of students at Cambridge are unable to graduate because employer body UCEA refuses to restart negotiations. Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg and the national degree scandal will worsen every day UCEA refuses to get back round the table. The sector can well afford to deal with the low pay that blights higher education, UCEA needs to show it cares about staff and students, improve its pay offer and end the dispute.
'Instead of trying to emotionally blackmail staff into accepting low pay and job insecurity, Cambridge's acting vice-chancellor would be better spending his energy urging his fellow employers to push for a fair resolution so that students across the country can graduate.'
