The directors of Adult Human Female, a controversial film billed as a critique of “transgender ideology”, are taking legal action against their union who have described it as “transphobic”.
Scheduled screenings of the film at Edinburgh University have twice been cancelled when protesters blocked off venues where it was due to be shown.
On both occasions the viewings were opposed by the Edinburgh branch of Universities and College Union (UCU), who described the film as “transphobic” and an example of “hate speech”.
The directors, Deirdre O’Neill and Michael Wayne, are both academics and members of the UCU.
