University officials used colour-coded charts to single out lecturers who they suspected would participate in strikes, it has emerged, as a union called the behaviour “thuggish and callous”.
Trade union members at the University of Aberdeen became alarmed after rumours spread that they had been put on a list and were being monitored by senior management.
It was confirmed that a spreadsheet had been created in which courses taught by staff who had taken part in previous industrial action were marked in amber. It is now deemed to have been in breach of data protection laws.
