A victim of a professor who sexually abused his students is taking his former university to court to force it to pay agreed compensation.
Kevin O’Gorman was convicted at Edinburgh sheriff court in 2019, when he was 45, of abusing seven male students at Strathclyde and Heriot-Watt universities between 2006 and 2014.
One of his victims, a 35-year-old whose identity is protected, was promised £6,000 in compensation by Strathclyde in April for the abuse he suffered at the hands of O’Gorman.
Such claims are typically settled within 28 days, but he is still awaiting payment three months later. Lawyers acting on behalf of the man are set to take legal action against the university at Glasgow sheriff court.
