The boycott of marking students’ work is morally wrong, the head of a group of vice-chancellors has said.
Thousands of students have been left without a degree grade this summer, with some seeing their dissertations unmarked and others told they will receive their classification in the autumn.
University and College Union, which represents lecturers, refused to mark work as part of a dispute over pay which has included national strikes at dozens of universities.
Vivienne Stern, chief executive of Universities UK, criticised the boycott.
