The UK has one of the highest proportions of international students in the world and the second largest doing master’s degrees, a report reveals.

The Education at a Glance report, published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), shows that the UK spends more on degrees compared with many other developed countries, but that total spending has fallen between 2015 and 2020. Parents pay a substantial amount towards university education compared with other countries.

The report shows that 16 per cent of the UK undergraduate student body is international. This is the third highest after Luxembourg (24 per cent) and Austria (19 per cent), which have smaller student bodies.
