Cardiff Metropolitan University has announced Professor Helen Langton will succeed Professor Cara Aitchison as vice-chancellor. Professor Helen Langton MBE, the current Vice Chancellor of the university of Suffolk, who began her career as a nurse, will start at Cardiff Met in April 2024.
She was previously Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the University of South Wales and prior to this was Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of the West of England. Details of her salary package were not released. The position is currently paid more than £257,000.
Latest Figures show Cardiff Met’s outgoing Vice Chancellor Professor Cara Aitchison’s package, including benefits, pension contributions, and performance-related pay for the 2021-22 financial year was £257,500.
Professor Langton said: “I’m excited to begin my tenure as Vice-Chancellor at Cardiff Met and can’t wait to get to know the university, its staff and students over the coming months.”
