IFS Research Associate Professor Sarah Smith has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to Economics and Education.
Smith, Professor of Economics at the University of Bristol, is an applied micro-economist with research on public and labour economics, including gender and pro-social behaviour. She is founder and co-chair of Discover Economics, a campaign which aims to broaden the appeal of economics, change perceptions of the subject and economists and attract more students from unrepresented backgrounds into the field, and was also previously chair of the Royal Economic Society’s Women’s Committee.
