The University of Bradford has announced a scholarship scheme to help get more white working-class men into higher education.
The bursary will pay for four students to receive £400 a month towards living costs while studying at the university. To be eligible they must be a white male student from a working-class background who is already living in the Bradford district.
White male pupils eligible for free school meals are less likely to go on to higher education than any other demographic, according to government data published earlier this year, with only 4.6 per cent of students from that group.
At the University of Bradford that proportion is even lower, at about 1.7 per cent of the student body.
